The importance of timing

 

If you’ve been reading these letters for a while (and some of you do, as I have received some lovely comments), you’ll know that I’ve been a bit reflective lately. In fact I’ve been struggling a bit since Eric’s funeral. Rethinking a few things. 

I like to listen to audio-books, because I can listen in the car or when I’m walking the dog. One book that kept cropping up was “The Brain Audit” by Sean D’Souza. So I bought it and started listening. I’ve heard Sean on a few podcasts and I have to say, I wasn’t sure about him. But the book is well structured; he talks about seven bags, each representing a different aspect of your marketing. And the final bag is “uniqueness”. I hit this chapter in the book just as I started reading “A slice of the pie” by Nick Sarillo. 

“A slice of the pie” is a book about a pizza restaurant in Chicago. Nick, the owner, didn’t feel right about his business, so he brought in a consultant and together they designed the company purpose. From that day on, things were transformed; they still kept doing the same things but they had principles to guide them whenever there was any doubt. 

However, “A slice of the pie” wasn’t available as an audiobook, so I started reading it the traditional way.
