KPIs: what to measure – part 1

When I was working on my developer bonus programme, I had to think hard about what behaviour I wanted to reward.

I ask that everyone does a daily check-in with what they’re working on, a short progress report at the end of the week and also tells us what they’ve learnt. Finally, once a month, I ask for a “what can we do better” report. Of course all of this is automated and designed so that it doesn’t interrupt anyone’s working day. But because it doesn’t interrupt people, it was often missed.

So I made that a KPI. How many daily, weekly and monthly check-ins did you do this month?
